The cookie jar was empty. That is... the puppy cookie jar.

Now, every good owner knows that a full cookie jar, a happy puppy makes. So around 10 p.m., I got out my rolling pin, pizza cutter, and some elbow grease and bowed to the demand of my four legged furry friends.

The ingredients:
1c milk
2c whole wheat flour
1c peanut butter (organic is probably better, but ehhhhhhh)
1T baking powder (not pictured, oops)
1/2c flax seeds (optional)
OK, let's stop for a second. These cookies are what we, in our house, refer to as the puppy cookies. They are like crack. Tank, who is the pickiest eater I know, will twirl until he is dizzy for the chance to scarf down these things. I love them, because the recipe's easy enough where I can whip them up in no time at all.
Also, flax seeds. I'm not crazy. I add them because, like humans, dogs benefit from a diet that include omega-3 fatty acids. Plus they give the cookies this yummy roasty, nutty flavor..... erm... I mean, I've been told it gives them a nutty flavor...heh heh...
I dump everything into a mixing bowl,

power up my 40-year old Hobart-era Kitchenaid and wheeeeee!!!

At this point, the dogs ALWAYS come to the kitchen and demand that I give them whatever is being mixed in that bowl. Do not give in. Oy, I learned this the hard way.
Instead, I always make sure to save the peanut butter scooping spoon for them.
When everything's mixed, it looks a little like a turd in the bottom of the bowl... like so.

Then I dump it out on to my board (I have this marble slab that I got from Christmas. Lolli and Pop picked it up at a kitchen remnant store. It is awesome).

Split it into 3 pieces, roll out..... roll out roll out roll out I got my twin glocks.... ahem...

and cut into desirable shapes using cookie cutters of choice.
Now, my dogs are 4.1lbs and 7.2lbs... all cookie cutters make cookies that are too big. So I like to cut my dough into a rectangle with a pizza cutter,

then into small bite size pieces.

Cram the pieces on a tray and into a 350F oven it goes. For 30 minutes.

At this time, I then adress my patiently waiting puppies and present them with their prize.

Puppies.......
ATTACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ding! Crisis averted.
